History of Hudson Community Chorus

The Hudson Community Chorus was formed in 1998 by Caroline (Corky) Buhler, a long-time Hudson resident and Frank Longstreth, a faculty member at Western Reserve Academy to promote choral singing in the area. From its inception, in recognition of the value of its leadership, the chorus has hired artistic directors to ensure a high standard of performance.
Seed money was provided by area benefactors. The chorus performs two or three concerts a year celebrating the seasons with traditional pieces as well as music from new composers. Among the highlights of the past 29 years were performances of John Rutter's Gloria and Magnificat and selections from Bernstein's Candide under the direction of the renowned Robert Page.
Celebrating its 29th season in 2016-2017, the chorus is managed by a volunteer board of directors led by President, Kathy Sluzewski.
The Hudson Community Youth Chorus was started in September 2014 as a treble chorus for youth in 6th through 12th grade and is under the umbrella of the Hudson Community Chorus.
The Hudson Community Children's Chorus was started in September 2015 and is for 3rd and 4th and 5th graders in Hudson and the surrounding communities.
